ROOF NET INSTALLATION ADVICE
Introduction
A net suspended above a roof will prevent birds from getting access to the roof. The birds might still land on the netting itself initially, but being up in the air they will be exposed to the elements, which will soon encourage them to seek other places to settle.

Some Considerations
- Ensure nets do not sag down to roof level when gulls initially land on them - suspend the nets > 40cm above the roof
- If existing infestation is heavy then use more mounts to take the weight of birds initially landing on the net
- For gull nets use 75mm net horizontally and 50mm net on vertical or steeply angled sides
- Snow can sit on up to 50mm mesh net. Where weight of snow, exposure to wind and/or distance between supports is an issue, then use 3mm wire rope and M8 fixings
- Is access required for maintenance after installation of the net?
- Is it a fragile roof - will it take the weight of the installation?
- Are there trees that might damage the net?
